In my experience, education has little to do with it. The qualities that 
distinguish SW engineers from coders seem to be intrinsic. No amount of 
education will convince most coders to use Ada, while those who have the 
makings of SW engineers tend to adopt it once they become aware of it.

I certainly don't object to coders using Ada.

 From the point of view of SW engineering that tends to be true. C may 
be perfectly designed from a coders' perspective.
