I have scoured the net, as much as I can, and can only
find vestiges of references to prior versions of GNAT
binaries in existance (for HP). However, I cannot seem
to find the binaries themselves anymore.

GNAT unfortunately, requires a working version of GNAT
to be installed to compile it for the platform. If anyone
has binaries/pointers for GNAT under HPUX-10.2, I'd be
grateful.

TIA, Warren.

Well, not exactly. You *could* do a cross-compile. That's more work than
I'd care to do for fun though.

Thanks everyone. Stefan Lindesvik <stefan.lindesvik@emw.ericsson.se>
pointed me to the following link, which was just what I was looking
for:

You have to read some README file which contains the location on the
NYU FTP site (it's in a private, not ls-able directory, probably to
prevent scripts from mirroring old, obsolete stuff).

We've got a HTTP mirror of this directory :

http://de.gnuada.org/gnat/private/old/

It's actually not all that much work if you are intimately familiar with
cross-compilation and the GCC build process and are doing it to a supported
GNAT target. You can do it in 7 commands, if I'm counting right and the
machines share a file system.

However, this is very much the situation that if you know understand
the process, you don't need to be told those 7 commands and if you
don't understand what's going on, knowing those 7 commands isn't going to
be of much help since they will differ in detail depending on how you've
set up your directories.

I'd have sworn that Robert said that GNAT was going to be in gcc-3.0, but
by the looks of the official web page, it isn't:

We are discussing now whether to put GNAT into 3.0 or wait
till just after. The issue is to work out whether there is
a risk of destabilizing the release. Richard and Mark are
working out the best approach.

Robert could hardly have specifically promised that GNAT would
go into GCC 3.0 because (a) there was no firm release schedule
at that time anyway and (b) Robert is not the GCC release
manager :-)
