Introduction

Just wanted to introduce myself as I am new to the group. I am a junior 
in Computer Science at Florida State University and have taken a class on 
Ada 95. I like the language and am looking forward to being able to use 
it more. Hopefully I can get a lot of good info from the people in this 
group.
That's all....just wanted to say hello and all.

newbie : gnat on Linux problem

I am a quite new to Ada'95 , but very keen 
on learning as much as possible. On the 
Linux-distribution I use on my pc, gnat is 
included. But trying to compile the included 
example 'hello' program gives

linux> gnatmake hello

hellogcc -c hello.adb
gnatbind hello.ali
gnatbl hello.ali -linkonly
/usr/i486-linux/bin/ld: warning: libpthreads.so.1, needed by
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-linux/2.7.2/libgnat.so, not found

/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-linux/2.7.2/libgnat.so: undefined reference to
`pthread_create'

/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-linux/2.7.2/libgnat.so: undefined reference to
`pthread_getspecific'

 .

gnatmake: *** link failed.


Help for pointing out what is needed to get gnat working 
would be greatly appreciated

     A hearty WELCOME!!  You'll find most of the people here very helpful
and knowledgeable, and the "signal to noise ratio" (useful messages to
flames) in this group is much better than in many other newsgroups.
     I, too, am very enthusiastic about Ada, and feel strongly that it has
a much better design than other programming languages, such as C/C++.
     There are beginners here as well as veterans, and the FAQs are posted
monthly.  There's an Ada-95 tutorial at the Web site below my signature,
and another Ada-95 tutorial at

Perhaps you need to get the system to re-think the shared library data,
by using `ldconfig'.
