			  Twin Cities SIGAda

			       presents

			     David Weller

			    speaking about

		       Ada 95 Booch Components

	      7:00-9:00 PM, Thursday, November 14, 1996
Linden Hills Library, 2900 West 43rd Street, Minneapolis

Many developers are looking for ways to leverage the power of Ada95 --
the first ISO standardized object-oriented language. In cooperation
with Grady Booch, David Weller developed the Booch Components for Ada95.
What stands the Ada95 implementation apart from others (C++, Eiffel, and
Smalltalk) is that the Ada95 components are being released under
freeware distribution, making the Booch Components freely accessible to
all Ada95 developers.

The presentation has two major parts: Part 1 discusses in detail the
history and patterns of the Booch Components, focusing on how the
components can be immediately applied to development work in Ada95.
Part 2 discusses the implementation of the components, how the
components can be extended and future directions of the components.
This part will also cover the migration effort needed to go from
C++ to  Ada95.

David Weller has been an Ada developer since 1985, and was a reviewer of
the Ada95 language since 1988. He is currently the lead engineer on a
large scale F-16 simulation project. Mr. Weller is currently pursuing a
PhD in Cognitive Psychology, mostly because he thinks the title sounds
pretty neat.

This Twin Cities SIGAda event -- like all of our meetings -- is open to
the public. For more information about this talk, or about the SIG
in general, please contact Chad Broshar at 871-1339 or
brosha19@skypoint.com, or see the chapter's WWW pages at

A suggested route to the Linden Hills Library is:

From downtown Minneapolis or further north:
exit 35W at 46th Street (south of downtown)
    west on 46th Street
    south (left) on Lyndale Avenue
    west (right) on 50th Street

From everywhere else:
exit Hwy 62 (Crosstown) at Xerxes (exit is west of 35W)
    north on Xerxes

Then, from either way:
    north on Xerxes
    east (right) on 43rd Street,
    go 2 blocks to Vincent,
Linden Hills Library is on the left

			Alternate Presentation

                1:00-2:00PM Thursday November 14, 1996
Olin-Rice Room 270, Macalester College, St. Paul

Earlier in the afternoon, David will give a shortened version of
his presentation in the Olin-Rice science building at Macalester.
Macalaster may be reached by taking the Snelling Avenue exit from
I94 in St. Paul. Go south about 10 blocks, crossing summit and Grand.
Macalaster will be on your right. Olin-Rice is located on the south
end of the campus, just north of the altletic fields. The Rice half
is renovated, and Room 270 is at the point of connection between Rice
and the under-construction Olin. The 2nd floor of Rice is actually
a half-flight of steps above ground level, the "basement" is considered
level 1.

As far as parking goes: there are two lots close to Olin-Rice, off
the driveway that is the continuation of Macalester street (you can
access it from St Clair or from where Macalester street seems to dead
end. If no parking is available there, most of the residential streets
around campus permit on-street parking, which should be fine. There is
a "Work and Vocation" conference going on on campus at that time, so
parking may be tight.
