I'm sure that many of you know all too well that ADA stands for
"Americans with Disabilities Act," which causes some confusion. Well,
that's not all it stands for:

Ada [not an acronym] DoD Standard Computer Software Language
ADA American Dental Association
ADA American Diabetes Association
ADA Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990
ADA Acquisition Decision Authority
ADA Action for Dysphasic Adults
ADA Activity Discard Acknowledgment
ADA Actual Date of Arrival
ADA Adana, Turkey - Adana (Airport Code)
ADA Add/Drop Amplifier (Pirelli)
ADA Additional Drill Assemblies
ADA Adenosine Deaminase
AdA Adipic Acid
ADA Advanced Data Analysis
ADA Advanced Delivery Alert
ADA Advisory Area
ADA Aeronautical Development Agency (India)
ADA After Date of Award
ADA Age Discrimination Act of 1975
ADA Agents Draft Authority
ADA Air Defense Area
ADA Air Defense Artillery
ADA Airborne Data Automation
ADA Alberta Dental Association
ADA Alert Dispersal Area
ADA Alternative Discipline Agreement
ADA Alternative Distribution Alliance
ADA American Dairy Association
ADA American Dance Awards
ADA American Decency Association
ADA American Dietetic Association
ADA Americans for Democratic Action
ADA Amiga Demoscene Archive
ADA Analog/Digital/Analog (audio CD format,
recording/mixing/mastering)
ADA Another Darn Acronym
ADA Anti-Deficiency Act (DoD Regulation 7000)
ADA Anti-Discrimination Association (Ulster)
ADA Application Domain Authority
ADA Area Defense Administrator
ADA Assistant District Attorney
ADA Asymptotic Diophantine Approximation
ADA Atmospheric Decision Aid
ADA Atomic Development Authority
ADA Audio Design Associates
ADA Australian Dental Association
ADA Automatic Data Acquisition
ADA Automatic Delivery Alert
ADA Average Daily Attendance
ADA Aviation Data and Analysis (system)

My favorite is "Another Darn Acronym."

To be precise, Ada is an ISO standard (ISO/IEC 8652:1995), not a DOD
standard.

There is an Ada in Wisconsin, too, but it is an unincorporated community
between Howards Grove and Kiel. (That's near my hometown, which is why I
know this - my 6th grade teacher lived there.) You can find it on a map (at
least on the Rand McNally Road Atlas) by following hwy 42 northwest out of
Sheboygan.

                      Randy.
