You got one heavily standard UI, right at your fingers : the one which is
made of HTML+CSS+JS (sorry, but JS here is unavoidable). This is not well
suited for application with kind of real-time feed-back requirements, but
that should be good enough for many thing (as long as communication via
sockets, between the UI and the core application, is not a trouble… this
also intensively consume serialization/deserialization). To be honest,
another drawback, is also the keyboard support (that's a real nightmare to
properly handle the keyboard in a browser).
