Yes. I fought for slices in the ARG forum many months ago [1]. I was 
practically alone. Where were you guys? :-) You could have made the 
difference. It happened with indefinite elements. Here I pushed harder. 
It took three waves of discussion, at separate times. The final wave 
was started by a simple statement of need by someone else. 
Ada.Containers now have indefinite elements, but not slices. For slices 
there was only one wave. Now it's too late for Ada 2005.
