Did I miss an announcement? There appears to no longer be a DNS entry for
this site.
Is this just my ISP?

I can't get there either. All of act-europe.fr seems to be down too, and has
been for about a week now. One has to wonder if something a bit more than a
simple network glitch isn't going on...

T.E.D. master CLA conspiracy theorist at work :-) :-)
Anyway, the explanation is simple, the ISP suddenly cut
off ACT Europe without warning two weeks ahead of schedule,
and the folks over there are scrambling to get the new
ISP in place.

Well...OK. Guilty as charged. :-)

Having recently gone through similar troubles (both at home and at work), I can
say that completely explains it for me.
Its a damn shame it had to happen in a week where several references to software
hosted there came up. Hmmm...Perhaps I should move on to a new conspiracy
theory? ;-)
Yes...I can see it now. Stroustrup in a black catsuit, wielding a large pair of
bolt-cutters, sneaking into ACT Europe's ISP in the dead of night.
Then again, perhaps he did all the sabotage to them he needed to do, just by
developing C++ in the first place. :-)

We're simply having an unexpected network shortage.
Hopefully things should get back to normal within the next few days.

Does anyone know if there is an OODMS for Ada.
Bindings for an OODBMS would work as well. I searched
fairly heavly on the net, this news group, and
comp.object.* and found only very old references. I
checked these out and none of them seem to exist
anymore. There was one exception a database called
FIRM from some subsidiary of lockheed marten, but it
seemed to be directed at the embedded market and cost
(unfortunatly) is a limiting factor.
Thanks

I'm a bit uncertain about what you ask for, but have you looked at:

Yes, gnade is a very good library that wrappers ODBC.
ODBC is an access method for various relational
database. What I am actually more interested in is an
Object Oriented Database. These are actually more
interesting, though less popular, then the thier
relational cousins.

I'm very glad to hear that. Thanks for checking in about it too, rather than
leaving it up to our imaginations to piece together. Some of us here, myself
included, have rather vivid imaginations. :-)

How true. In this new world, if you can't reach a country like France
for a while, you start wondering if the whole country is still there.
Like maybe terrorist have learned how to control asteroids.

Fortunately, it's much more likely that terrorists learn how to
control routers (or the regular networking people haven't yet). It's
built into the nature of the Internet that parts are disappearing and
reappearing, so I don't pay much attention to network outages.
The most important things are mirrored locally anyway. ;-)

I can't make any commitment concerning France, since this is outside my
responsibilities, but concerning ACT-Europe, our sites (both commercial
and libre) are back online.
Depending on your location, there might be a 1 or 2 days delay before the
reverse DNS is properly propagated however.
