I just noticed that a number of you got auto-deleted from Ada-Comment
tonight. If you didn't get a bunch of messages from it in the last week
about random numbers (the last on Tuesday), you've probably got a problem
getting mail from my systems. (Dmitry and Christoph are among the people
that got removed from the list).
I changed Internet providers late last month, and that could have broken
some firewall rules and the like (my mail and web servers are at different
IPs than before, so old rules may need to be replaced). So you might want to
check if everything is working on your end, and resubscribe if you still
want to get list mail.

I read on a IETF mailing list around may 2014 about problems with mailing lists and some e-mail providers (yahoo? gmail? I am not 100% sure, it has been a long time...) that changed their DMARC policies and this caused the (silent?) rejection of some ML messages. It has been a long time and I do not remember the details (I can dig, if you want). Maybe is this related with the Ada-Comment problem?
If this can help: I have a gmail account and I received the thread about random number generation.
Best,
Riccardo

I haven't seen any lasting problems with the big providers, just smaller
ones. I get the list mail on my phone, for instance (which is a GMail
account).

The problem was not due to a "bug," but to a change of policy that were made too strict. At that time I did not pay much attention to that thread, and I still have to dig it, so I am relying on memory and maybe what I am going to say is not 100% exact...
If I remember correctly the problem was that a message sent via a mailing list was believed to be a spoofed message (maybe because the address in the From: field did not match the ML mailer, or something like that) and some mail servers with said "overstrict" policy rejected the message. After few rejections, the ML server would assume that the address was not working anymore and it would unsubscribe automatically the user.
This is, more or less, as I remember it. When I find a timeslot, I am going to dig in the mail archives, so I can be more precise.

Randy, it seems I'm unable to resubscribe to the list. I do not receive confirmation mail.

I tried to send you an e-mail from here (my office), and the mail bounced.
I've sent mail to the address reflected in the bounce, but they replied that
they have the address blocked for some reason and won't change it unless I
change something about how our ISP identifies us. That's going to take a
while to resolve (will need help from the ISP, which may not be possible),
so check back in a week or so.
Randy.

I've finished wrestling with a couple of mail providers, and as far as I
know, everybody is receiving mail from me/Ada-Comment/ARG again. So if you
think you stopped getting Ada-Comment messages, you could try again and/or
resubscribe. (Note: There hasn't been any Ada-Comment traffic since Nov 11,
so it might be hard to tell if it is working.)
