"GPS GPL 2014" is in GPS.app/Contents/Info.plist. You can edit it.

If I say "/opt/gnat-gpl-2015/bin/gps &" in Terminal the menubar says
"gps_exe"!

Don't know but expect it's the OS that GPS was built on.
