It's good to have both. I agree that it is better to get large files by FTP. 
The main problem with having the whole thing hosted on FTP is that it makes 
it hard to browse the HTML index pages. So the best possible solution would 
be to have it split between HTTP and FTP -- small files and indexes in HTTP 
and large files in FTP -- but as that is a lot of work, I didn't want to 
bother with it.

Probably the best approach is to find the files that you need in the AdaIC 
archives and then download them from Dirk's FTP site if they are large. 
(Filezilla works well for accessing FTP sites.)
