Hello,

I need to compile the GNAT ver. 3.13 on Solaris 8.
I have compiled and installed gcc 3.0 and now I want to compile ada too.
To do this I need gcc (OK) and
a previous working version of ada! (There is a circular dependency).

I've been searching for a while for the sources of a previous Gnat
version but with no success.
Also, I did not succeed in finding al least a binary distribution for
Solaris 8 (to use as a 'bootstrap').

Any ideas of where I can find any of the above.

Thanks in advance
Cosimo

I am pretty sure you need exactly version 2.8.1 of gcc, certainly 3.0 won't
work.

If this is for Solaris x86, there was a binary version announced on this
newsgroup a few days ago. Thread "GNAT 3.13p build for Solaris 8_x86".

If all you want a binary version of GNAT for Solaris/SPARC, there is one at

ftp://ftp.cs.nyu.edu/pub/gnat/3.13p/gnat-3.13p-sparc-sun-solaris2.5.1-bin.ta
r.gz

But 2.5.1 binaries do work on Solaris 8, don't they?

Gerhard

If the target platform is Sparc why not use
gnat-3.13p-sparc-sun-solaris2.5.1-bin.tar.gz from
ftp://ftp.cs.nyu.edu/pub/gnat/3.13p/.

It works on Solaris 8 as far as I now.
