Funnily Microsoft is discovering *right now* that GC and heap allocation can be better sometimes replaced by stack allocation: https://www.infoq.com/news/2018/05/CSharp-7.3 int* block = stackalloc int[3] { 1, 2, 3 }; which has been already be possible since Pascal in the early 1970's (without initialization).
