During the last year, there have been more attacks via the Internet
than in the last 10 years combined, as Hackers around the globe
launched Denial-of-Service, Intrusion, Virus, and Worm attacks via the
Internet.
The Economic damage from Virus and Worms proliferation in 2004
including MyDoom, NetSky and SoBig is estimated to lie between $157
billion and $192 billion worldwide. In fiscal 2001, India spent $13.02
billion on its armed forces to keep the Nation safe; in contrast
Worldwide Economic impact of malicious code attacks in 2001 was $13.2
billion because of CodeRed, SirCam and Nimda. As per Ernst & Young
Report India is among the most Vulnerable country for Cyber Attacks
and lacks Data protection Laws.
Over the years with Information Security gaining its ground by leaps
and bound and with year 2002 declared as the year of Information
Security, The biggest consequence of the events of September 11 was in
demonstrating the need for effective Disaster Recovery and Business
Continuity Planning. No longer can Businesses and Governments across
the Globe ignore the Physical and Network threats.
Last year the event was held at Hyderabad on a National level with
huge success in terms of Awareness and in Educating the dire need of
Information Security. Keeping it in view, this year we are making this
Summit an Official International Summit with the support and able
