Rick Wilson says

<<I have heard rumors about a GNU Ada95 compiler for VMS. I didn't see this
listed at the GNAT distribution sites. What's the story on this?>>

First, a general point, to get the accurate story on such matters, and to
check out such rumours, send email to sales@gnat.com.

Regarding the VMS port. It is for the Alpha only currently, and is fully
supported by ACT (we will be announcing validation for this port in the
near future). The port is being done under contract with Digital Equipment,
and features a very high degree of compatibility with DEC Ada 83 in terms
of data structures and language additions (pragmas and attributes, e.g.
the AST facility is fully duplicated).

We are going through a formal process with Digital, corresponding to their
normal software release procedures, including formal field testing. The
product will be officially announced when it completes this process, but
meanwhile, if you want to find out more about it, or to acquire it now,
send email to sales@gnat.com for more information.

We will not be doing a public release of this version until after it the
formal qualification procedures are complete, but at that time, public
versions of GNAT for OpenVMS on Alpha will be released in a manner similar
to those for other ports of GNAT.
