Well, there's a third component in the mix, which was implied--Mr. Weller's
code itself. From his web page:

Currently, neither GNAT nor the ObjectAda compilers appear to be accepting
my code. Note I am NOT saying either compiler is broken, rather I'm saying
my source and the two compilers above are in "disagreement" (both compilers
appear to break for similar reasons, having to do with instantiations of
generic children, which means I _might_ be writing semantically incorrect
Ada, or it means I'm exposing something Tucker hadn't planned on :-). I'm
working with both vendors to get the matter resolved as soon as possible.

And from his most recent post on the subject to comp.lang.ada, dated 17 Nov
96:

Just as an FYI, the release data mentioned on that web page is temporarily
on hold until either GNAT or ObjectAda can successfully compile the code.

I guess I assumed that anyone who was likely to have an answer for my question
would have kept up with the progress, and would have known what I was talking
about. I'm sorry if I implied that there was something wrong with either
compiler. I find GNAT to be a very solid product, and I sing its praises as
often as I can, but not so much in this group since most already know about
it. ObjectAda I have not tried, since it doesn't run on my development
platform, but I'm sure it's a fine package as well. Apologies to ACT and to
Aonix for any perceived slight.

I'm also sorry that you couldn't answer my question, or shed any real light on
the subject.

BTW, Mr. Weller is still alive, or at least his account is, since he has
posted in other newsgroups as recently as last Sunday, the 9th.

Or Mr. Weller? Is he okay? It's been four months since he updated his Booch
components web page, two months since his proposed release date at Tri-Ada.
Does anybody have any news? The last I heard, there was some sort of
fundamental incompatibility between ObjectAda and GNAT, and he was waiting for
a resolution. I hate to be a noodge, but ... I've been drooling so long, it's
... I'm ... no, too gross for words.

Any info appreciated.
