How do i implement a "press a key to continue" function?

Basically, i was using

TEXT_IO.FLUSH;
TEXT_IO.GET_IMMEDIATE(TEMP_CHAR);

but this keeps finding up its own carriage returns and continuing when it
feels like it.

This behaviour is constant for the different times i call the code, but i
cant figure out what the problem is.

Thanks for your help,

Goldfish asks

"How do i implement a "press a key to continue" function?"

Never ask questions like this without telling us what machine you are
using, what operating system, and what compiler. That is especially
true for something like Get_Immediate, whose implementation is
implementation dependent in any case.
