John Ross asked

"Does anyone know the situation regarding this -which "version" of the
LRM should validated compilers comply with - Dec's is dated 1993?
"

First, LRM is only an informal term. There is one defining document for
Ada 83, it is the Ada standard as approved by ANSI and ISO, and has
not been changed (although it has been interpreted by subsequently issued
AI's, these AI's however do not change the text of the document).
