The fact that you can write extensions to EMACS in LISP has nothing
whatsoever to do with the source code being available. Any decent editor
allows the programming of extensions, and from my view, the LISP used
by EMACS is far more elegant and easy to learn than say the junky macros
of Microsoft Word.
