For moving from Ada 83 to Ada 95 read the Ada Compatbility Guide:

We are still migrating more than 3 mio loc of Ada 83 code (OpenVMS,
DecAda)
to GNAT (OpenVMS). For such a large application it is really hard
work. The Source has to work for some time on both compilers. The
interersting point is, that we have found to all "source-code"
problems solutions without using
tools like gnatprep.

If it is a valuable piece of software, i would expect, that you 
have a support contract with ACT. They will assist you.
