I am doing some research about Ada and it's use in the space industry. If
anyone would care to e-mail me their opinions about programming in Ada, its
future in the space industry, and how much people like it I would greatly
appreciate it.

BTW, in case anyone cares, I am from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and
the majority opinion about Ada among us CS students who are forced to learn it
is that it is a real pain in the ass. Not many students think it is a good
language to learn as a first language.

Thanx in advance for your help,

        Bill

I am looking for opinions about the usefulness of Ada in the space program. Do
programmers like to program in Ada? Why/not? Does Ada's future in the space
industry look promising or bleak? If you have an opinion/fact that you think
I could use, please E-mail me since I don't really want to sift through the net
looking for responses. After all, my report is due soon....

Later and thanx in advance...

        Bill

I know that SAAB-ERICSSON SPACE (a swedish company, they build hardware for the
ARIANE-rockets used by ESA) is developing a processor especcially for ADA. So I
guess ADA is heavily used in space.

Sheesh!

pramga Flame(On);

Hopefully, if you ever become gainfully employed in the industry,
you'll spend some time researching solutions to problems, rather
than simply asking others on the net to provide their opinions,
and slap something together at the last minute.

No wonder you don't like Ada -- it's not a language for the impatient.

The net news is only one source I am using, and I have done lots of research
before on Ada. This is just one way to get some info from people in the field.
Do you have any other ideas on how I could reach this many people that use Ada?
If you do I would like to hear them. This research is mostly for myself anyway
,
since my report is just a piddly little 5-minute oral report in an introductory
level space course. I have been curious about Ada and how it is used outside
my little shell of a world here at college, and I now know much more than I use
d
too. I thank all the others who gave me loads of information, and even phone
numbers where I can find out more.

BTW, I do like Ada. C is great and versatile if you can get away with hacking
together a small program, but I would much rather use Ada for large systems.

Later,

	Bill

Classic net-misunderstanding. I took your original posting as being a
'please do my homework for me' posting (re-read it objectively and I
think you'll understand why). I shot back my flame publically, and
should have instead sent it privately so that you could clear things
up for me; sorry.

Good luck on your research. You may want to check back-issues of
ACM's SIGAda for space-related items.
