I was scheduled for a Naval Reserve weekend, but I was very ill.
"You can't call in sick, you have to come to the reserve center
and let the Corpsman say you're sick"

Wait in misery thirty minutes for the corpsman to say "Go to the
V.A. hospital to see a doc"

Drive there, am told "Wait right here for the doc."

At least there was a TV there, and a football game was
just beginning.

At half-time, somebody came in, asked me a few questions,
and left.

When the game ended, someone else came in, gave me a note
saying I should stay in bed, and left.

Five hours out of bed and out of the house,
in order to be told not to get out of bed.

And interesting timing with regard to the game.  :-)
