... 150 years ago today (November 27, 1852) in London.

Ada Byron, Lady Lovelace, was 36 years old.

Lets take a minute of silence:
Ada developers should stop codening( C++ coders may leave their debuggers.. )

[...]

She was lucky, she had never, ever seen languages like C++ ;-)

or better:
Ada developers may stop coding for an appropriate break.
C++ hackers should continue debugging.

According to <http://www.math.wichita.edu/history/women/ada.html>,
she and Babbage devised a "fool-proof" method for betting on horses,
and as a result she was plunged deeply in debt.

So like in other aspects of the computer biz, I guess she was also
the first to have a spectacular project failure :-)

Oh, and her work was on the Analytical Engine, a system that never
saw any wide use. Almost prescient naming, wans't it? :-)

I'll duck the brickbats now...

So what? Please tell me a scientific field where the first work was a
big success and widly use.

Better to use the bricks to build something better, one brick at the
time.

Some choose to use a poor foundation though, like C++. Perhaps you
should duck from those falling bricks?

I say Container.
You say Multiprogramming.
Let's call the whole thing off.
