That's not necessary. A chroot is sufficient. One can run Debian
stable, Debian testing and Debian unstable in different chroots on top
of an Ubuntu (or Gentoo, or Red Hat or whatever) installation. I
should know. The ada-france server runs Gentoo and has a Debian stable
chroot in it.
