I agree and Win32Ada is an excellent example of how some packages/libraries
can become a lower-case "standard" just because the vendors make it come
along for the ride. Win32Ada may be "icky", but people use it just because
they can count on it being there.

So IMHO, the same sort of thing could be done with data structures, math
libraries, etc., to the benefit of Ada. It might even be possible to have it
done for more complex things like a GUI - a platform-specific standard but
the one that all vendors deliver if they target that platform. Evidence
indicates that the technique will work, but the hard part is the process for
getting "Library X" into everyone's distribution.
