Hey Greg, I like your diatribes...they're thought provoking. What you said
rekindled a fading remembrance of what I would call a software reuse
entrepreneur who actually exhibited at TRI-Ada '92. The company, called
Osiris Industries, was small but they offered the source to a series of
generics that included all the Booch components plus some extra functionally
capable goodies. I'm sure they wouldn't mind this mention, as I said,
they're small and hungry (and the koozies they handed out are great!).

Mark,
All the success to them. But having tried to go down this path
before, as have a few other companies, as much as I hate to say it,
these guys are a very tough time trying to make a profit in the
Ada-mandated world. And if they go into the non-mandated world, with
its little use of Ada, they will do even worse, except if they
translate their stuff to C++ or Smalltalk, then with good marketing,
they can make a lot of money.
Like I have said before, it's hard for small, capitalistic
entrpreneurial companies like Osiris to survive and thrive in the
socialist defense software arena. In fact I will bet you a beer
(if you are ever in Boston to collect) that Osiris will not last
long enough to be at Tri-Ada '95 (while tax dollar funded reuse
centers keep on going and going and going and going, but not doing).

(And if C.L. is reading this, ever hear of "COMPONENT COST" !!!)
