18:00 - Panel Software industry in Russia - past and future

            --------------------------------------

Russia has been (and still is) a major force in most topics - including
computer science. A surprising number of software development efforts
within the former Soviet Union are using object-oriented programming
and object-oriented design to build production software systems. Major
universities teach object oriented methods and there is some research in
 this
area. Besides this there is much cooperation between Western and Russian
 companies and research institutes.

It seems to be the right time for the first international conference in
Russia about object oriented technology. This conference should:

 - help East and West to learn from one another
 - help to build new connections
 - provide the opportunity to present and to learn about
o the actual state of research in OO technology
   o OO based developments
   o practical experiences with OO

The conference will be held at the St. Petersburg electrotechnical
university. Accommodations will be provided on-site. Additional
accomodations will be available in St. Petersburg. Airport limousine
service between St. Petersburg Airport and the conference site will be
 provided.
The conference organizers will help you in gathering the necessary visas.
 Please
note that aquiring a visa may take up to several weeks, so don't delay!

Registration fees: Before May 1 After May 1

Accommodation will be available from $15 up to $50 at the university or at
 the
Research Engineering Center and from $35 (at "The Youth Palace") to $95 at
Hotel "St. Petersburg" (all prices for double rooms). These prices are as
 of
April 96, but may be raised due to inflation, and high demand as
many people visit St. Petersburg at this time. So we suggest you
d make room reservations as soon as possible. As there are many other
 hotels
in the town (no upper price limit ;-) accommodation should be no problem -
 just ask the conference organizers.
