I can see ForTran as Formula Translator although I always saw it as FORTRAN.
One theory for all caps might be that early programmers used teletypes that
did not have lower case letters since they were not designed for word
processing.  So, all things computer would be in all caps.  Question, did
keypunches have mixed case or only upper?
