Subject: Problems with 3.12p binary install on AIX5.1

I have the 3.12p binary install for powerpc-ibm-aix 4.1.4 downloaded from
the cs.nyu.edu site.
It installed with no apparent problem on the RS/6000 AIX 5.1 box I am using.
However, when I try to make the hello.adb program included in the examples
directory I get the following error :
collect2 : /usr/lib/libc.a : not an import library
Now I did check and /usr/lib/libc.a does exists. I believe it was installed
as part of the xlc compiler from ibm, and I have been doing builds with xlc
and they work fine. This leaves the question of what is causing this
problem, and how do I fix it.
Thanks,
Dale Pennington
