                               WebAda

On behalf of the Ada Joint Program Office and the Ada Information
Clearinghouse, I am pleased to announce that an Ada 95 compiler is
now available on the Internet:

   <http://sw-eng.falls-church.va.us/AdaIC/compilers/webada/>

Tentatively called WebAda, this first version uses the GNAT compiler
running on the SW-ENG server to compile Ada code entered through Web
Browsers.

Thanks go to several key people:

  Clyde Roby IDA for listening to the idea, prototyping, then
                         sharing his work.
  David Wheeler IDA for laying the groundwork with his CGI Ada
                         utilities and Lovelace tutorial.
  Dennis Markham AdaIC for handling the server and http issues.
  Mary Colella AdaIC for designing and implementing the web pages.

----------------

     What is WebAda?

     WebAda is an Ada compiler which you access from the Internet. You
     don't download the compiler, it stays on the SW-ENG server! WebAda is
     designed to be used with online tutorials, such as Lovelace, or used
     as a simple on-line Ada semantic checker.

     You can develop your own compiler or tutorial page, because the page
     design is not fixed. By following the specified protocol, the results
     of the Ada compiler can be formatted to your needs. and all of your
     HTML pages stay on your machine.

     Visit the latest addition to the SW-ENG server and keep this URL in
     your hotlist...There's more to come!

        <http://sw-eng.falls-church.va.us/AdaIC/compilers/webada/>

     The AdaIC welcomes your comments on WebAda and suggestions for
     additional tool for inclusion on WebAda.

     System Needs:

     All you need is a forms capable Web Browser with access to the
     Internet. The compiler runs on the server.
