In <1991Jan9.231931.7905@src.honeywell.com>, Mike Miller asks about Ada9X
and inheritance.
Ada9X Requirements document section 4 deals with "Support for Programming
Paradigms." In the Requirements document, many "user needs" are addressed
which are followed either by "Requirements" (those things which Ada9X must
address) and/or "Study Topics" (those things which Ada9X should address
if it can do so within certain restrictions set forth elsewhere).
Section 4.1 entitled "Subprograms" does include "User Need U4.1-A: Dynamic
Subprogram Selection", which (with my limited exposure to OOP) appears
to be a step toward the object oriented methodology. Without including
the full text here (I'll make it available if demand is sufficient), I'll
simply say that "Study Topic S4.1-A(1) - Subprograms As Objects" looks
promising to the few OOP-smart folks I've talked with, though they express
their disappointment at it being a Study Topic instead of a Requirement.
