Subject: New Software Specification Tool
Available to DOD program offices and their contractors
	  (free of charge).

The Software Specification Assistant (SSA) is a PC-based tool for searching,
creating, updating and evaluating preliminary and DOD standard requirements
specifications. The Joint Logistics Commanders (JLC) Joint Policy Coordin-
ating Group on Computer Resources Management (JPCG-CRM) sponsored the devel-
opment of SSA and is currently making it available to government agencies
and other contractors free of charge.

SSA is particularly useful for satisfying DOD-STD-2167A (namely SSS, SSDD,
SRS and IRS). SSA can also be used with any other desired specification
format.

Interested organizations should be willing to commit to use SSA, have access
to the required environment (as specified below) and be willing to provide
feedback.

Minimum requirements:

HARDWARE PC (386 or greater), 4MB Memory, 3.5
floppy drive, hard drive (depends on
		       project information), and backup system.

SOFTWARE DOS/MS-Windows, Word Processor of choice
                       (MS-Word or Wordperfect)
ZyINDEX (for text retrieval) and Excel
		       for reporting.
