There is a four day software engineering conference in Boston in
October, from the 18th to the 22nd. It will be a multi-faceted conference,
covering the topic of object oriented programming, CASE tools, client/server
computing, enterprise programming, software re-engineering and other topics

As usual, there are few if any Ada presentation, and few if any Ada
booths at the trade shows. This is a real shame, since the traffic at
the trade show will be about 10,000 people looking for information for new
tools and methodologies to adopt. If only the 40+ companies at Tri-Ada
were exhibiting at this show, and others. Currently only Alsys seems to
be exhibiting at the trade show. We need much more.

In any event, I am interested in coordinating an effort by interested
parties to jointly sponsor a booth or two at the show. Booths cost $2000
plus utilities, and it would be nice for a two booth Ada exhibit at the
show. Now given that ARPA has $100 million for commercializing CAD, and
$7.5 for DoD software reuse, it seems someone inside the Pentagon should
be able to come up with $2000 for one of the booths, either Ada9X/AdaIC/STARS
or DISA or SIGADA.

That leaves the other, and probably only, booth to Ada companies.
In return for kicking in $500, and providing literature on your products and
services, I will display and pass out the material and answer any questions
people have. And it would be great if participating companies could send
one person to help man the booths. I intend to have a few laptops available
for running demos, if you are so interested.

So I would appreciate it if you could consider this proposal, and
quickly, since a contract has to be signed with the conference organizers.
Spread the word to those Ada companies not on the net. I have a detailed
brochure from the conference organizers that I can mail to you to give you
an idea of the presentations and other vendors showing.

This is a good opportunity to help promote Ada, as well as introduce
your products and services to a large audience of interested potential
customers. A few companies have already expressed some very tentative
interest, but I will need more specific commitments soon.

If you have any questions, please contact me.
