This thread has thrown up some interesting tidbits of information about
Windows! I feel that "device driver for the motherboard" (DD/MB?) would have
been a more accurate (and less confusing) way of putting it than "hardware
abstraction layer".
Does anyone else -- outside the context of Windows -- make earnest use of
the term HAL?
