Hi Gang,
I noticed a news group called fj.comp.lang.ada, and have hijacked it in
the name of ada opensource software and components colonialism. ( it was
empty after all ) does anyone else fancy using this for discussions about
the ada os and other ada opensource software/ components

regards
Tony

Why not create a newsgroup labeled Comp.Lang.Ada.OS or
Comp.Lang.Ada.Opensource?

Never done it myself so I don't know whats involved, but it would seem like
a better idea than comandeering a group not meant for that purpose.

No, the traffic on comp.lang.ada is low enough as it is. Keep the
discussions here, just keep them relevant.

This was already discussed here. The conclusion was that it is too much
trouble. And now it was pointed out that CLA traffic is low enough to
properly host Ada OS talks. I agree. Nevertheless, another possibility is:

 * AdaOS-like Ada OS discussions take place in the
already existing AdaOS fora (at AdaPower and SourceForge I think).
(This way Ada OS founders will not feel like they have to 'keep
   their heads down' ;-)

 * evolved / revolutionary / clean slate / realistic OS issues be
posted right here on CLA. AdaOS announcements included, of course.

Because the newsgroup naming authorities then will want Comp.Lang.Ada
renamed to Comp.Lang.Ada.<something>.

Well, then Comp.Lang.Ada_Open_Source or something similar?

How'd we get Comp.Lang.C++ and Comp.Lang.C++.Moderated then?

Or just skip it and keep any talk about open source Ada code, Ada OS's,
etc., right here. It would seem to be on-topic.

It's a nice idea, but I can't really see a great need right now. Maybe in
the future sometime.

I tried to get a newsgroup setup earlier this year, a few of the old hacks
may remember,
The reasoning behind that was at the time there was a lot of talk about
adaos.
But may be this shouldn't just be the OS but maybe be opensource ada
components.
I have registered on the Ada OS project, but would like more discussion
going on about design and architecture as one thing I'm sure we all agree on
is that we do not just want to re invent the desktop.

And some really interesting ideas for multi machine internet servers /
servers and embedded stuff could be examined, with out dispersing the
discussion regarding the ada language...
