Yes, there are jobs that are not defense related. The
jobs I have seen in America have been related to the defense 
industry, but NASA uses Ada and companies delaing with embedded 
controllers.

    We develop our engine control systems for commercial and
    government engines using (more or less) the same process. Hence
    both our commercial controls and government controls utilize Ada
    as the language of development. (Our government development caused
    us to bite the bullet early on and get with the Ada program. When
    we put the process in place, we were able to demonstrate
    significant productivity improvement and hence the commercial side

    direction, but now it's done by free choice using "Our Own Money."

    BTW: If anyone is interested in jobs in the exciting world of
    Jet/Rocket engines, let me know. Positions may be available in
    both Florida (Government) and Connecticut (Commercial) as we
    experience growth. (We're on a hiring binge at the moment...)
