The recent discussion of aspect-oriented programming in this group
reminded me that I first read about that in Dr. Dobb's (as best I can
recall). Sadly, Dr. Dobb's has greatly declined since then; I can't
imagine that article appearing now.

So, I'm looking for a new journal to read. Where do you go for
high-quality articles on current software engineering topics?

I prefer paper (I am over 50 :), but I could do online if necessary.

And to keep this slightly on-topic: there must be a "letters to the
editor" column (now gone from Dr Dobb's). I promise to write letters
pointing out how they could have mentioned Ada in various articles :).

You are right about the declining quality of Dr Dobbs.  It and most of
the "popular" software press seems focused on premature promotion/
creation of the next "bandwagon" for Web-based applications.

Your best bet is "IEEE Software" or some of the other IEEE journals.
I used to be a member of ACM but found that the quality/interest of
ACM Queue and other publications was trending downward.

I also enjoy reading the Air Force publication CrossTalk. I think
Crosstalk has good editorial standards.
