On 23 Dec someone inquired about POSIX. There is an overview article in
Dec 91 IEEE Spectrum. It is 4 pages, about 8 colors, defines terms
such as "compiler", "interface" etc., has nice block diagrams, lists all
of the interface standards (17 of them). I would recommend it as
a "Read-Me-First" article on POSIX.
Happy New Year!
