                  ADVANCE CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

                           TRI-Ada '92

                       November 16-20, 1992

Ada: Meeting the Challenges of Tomorrow Today

Over the last decade Ada has been used over a wide range of
application areas. The language has been both widely acclaimed and
severely criticized. Many of the criticisms have been acted on by the
Ada community and this is resulting in a revision of the language.
The Ada 9X mapping is now nearly complete and the Ada language is
about to enter a new era. However, a great deal still needs to be
achieved if Ada is to continue to expand its influence throughout the
computing industry. TRI-Ada '91 is now organized and will take place
in San Jose, California on October 21-25, 1991. Already preparations
are being made for next year's conference.

The TRI-Ada '92 conference program will consist of contributed papers,
invited lectures, panels, reports on practical experience, and
tutorials.

CALL FOR PAPERS AND PANELS

Possible paper and panel discussion topics include, but are by no
means limited to:

* The role of Ada in constructing safety critical systems, fault
tolerant distributed systems, and real-time embedded systems

* Ada bindings to other standards (POSIX, GKS, SQL, X Window, etc.)

* The use of Ada for general purpose application programming

* Comparison with other languages (e.g., C++)

* Appropriate formal and structured design methods for Ada

* Early experiences with Ada 9X, guidelines for its use, compiler and
  run-time implementation issues

* Managing any aspect of the transition from Ada 83 to Ada 9X

There will be an award made to the best student paper submitted. This
will include a financial contribution (up to a maximum of $3000)
towards the cost of attending the conference.

Six copies of full papers (12 pages or less), or abstracts outlining
proposed panel sessions, should be mailed to the Program or Conference
Chair. Please confine identifying information to the front cover to
allow for anonymous review. Electronic submissions will not be
accepted. Receipt of submissions will be confirmed in writing.
