I agree tools that check for consistency can be helpful, but
personally I find it intolerable for the editor to do ANYTHING
for me that I don't type myself, it just inteferes with my
thinking, and I type fast enough that typing speed is never
a bottleneck. I realize that others have different tastes, but
it is important for toolsets to accomodate both viewpoints.

What we do in the GNAT project is to put syntax and format
checks at the checkin interface. People use their own approaches
to generating the sources. Some people do indeed like to use
GLIDE and have everything automated, but we don't insist on
this approach.
