	I am currently teaching myself how to program in Ada from a textbook.
Even though I consider the book ("An Introduction to ADA," by S.J. Young) to
be well written, I am concerned that my understanding of the language and its
capabilities will not be complete.

	It's important that I learn Ada because my job requires it. 
Unfortunately, my company does not have any in-house Ada courses.  Could
someone out there let me know about such classes (both short- and long-term)?

	try Foothill and Stanford. At one time the Northeastern Bay
Area Technology Center (in Sunnyvale/Santa Clara) had a class scheduled,
but I'm sure if this is still valid. Hope this helps.

taken it upon myself to explore this INFO-ADA group to find potential sources 
for in-house Ada training courses. A recent survey which was completed has 
indicated that the line management anticipates a considerable need for Ada 
training.

Ada Programming Language 1
Course Description:  The course will be a comprehensive 
    presentation of the main features of the Ada programming 
    lanaguage.  The student will have the opportunity to code 
    program exercises that deal with: program structures; 
    data manipulation; conditional operations; computational 
    operations; variable and type declarations; arrays, strings, 
    and record handling; procedures and functions; packages 
    and generic units.  Upon completion, the student will be 
    able to design, code, compile and test a complex Ada 
    program for correct results.
    Discussions of Ada95 features will be included in the class.

Software Engineering with Ada
Course Description:  This course will provide an in-depth and 
    detailed introduction to Software Engineering for MIS 
    applications, goals and principles.  It will also provide 
    practical experience in the use of Ada and the Software 
    Engineering principles it supports.  This course will 
    include labs.

Ada Programming Language 2
Course Description:  This course will provide an overview of 
    basic knowledge of Ada and teaches how to effectively 
    apply advanced features of the language.  Daily workshops 
    are included. 

Object Oriented Design with Ada
Course Description:  This course introduces the application of 
    Object Oriented techniques and concepts to the development 
    of Ada MIS projects from both the requirements and design 
    aspects.  This course will include labs.

Software Reuse with Ada

It is unclear which version of Ada is being taught, presumably Ada83 ?


The course description for the OO course is not very helpful because the 
effectiveness of it is predicated on the particular methodology chosen, 
which is namely what ?

It is unclear if non-government people can take the course;  or put 
another way, what is the course discount for government employees ?

Certainly, and the value of this brief announcement was enhanced by the
fact that it was a "fresh" item, rather than responding to one of what
seems like daily "write-before-read" postings asking "Has anyone ever
heard of an ADA compiler for Windows 95?".

My newsreader displays -<Discussion about Ada*.>- for this newsgroup,
and I am certain it was not put their by the local system manager.
It would be nice if someone could make it include a FAQ URL.

  The Ada 95 Introduction CD-ROM contains two courses, Language and
Management. Together they contain over 750 content screens with over 9
hours of narration by Dr. Charles (Chuck) Engle, Jr. and Lisa Chan, both
experts in the Ada language.

  A knowledge of Ada 83 is assumed. These courses focus on making the
transition to Ada 95 both from the programmer's and program manager's point
of view.
