Message-ID: <8811282000.AA04266@ajpo.sei.cmu.edu> (raw)
I have sent this letter quite a while ago but have not received a reply
until this day. Are there any other Bitnet user's who have run into
the same problem?

Hello.
Today I tried for the first time to access INFO-ADA's database.
I am sorry to say that I was estonished to find that each entry in the
database is a digest instead of a letter. The way it is now, makes it
almost useless. Besides being wastful when it comes to retrieving
information from the database, it is not possible to conduct a
profitible search. As an example, say I want to find letters which
contains the words "386","compiler","unix". When I try to select these
words, I "hit" all digests which contain all three words, even though
each word is contained in a different letter within the digest.
I strongly suggest to reorginize the database so that each letter
occupies an entry of it's own. I realize that the Listserv might
be receiving the digest once a day from the address of INFO-ADA.
If this is the case, would it be possible to un-digestify the
"letter" to be distributed for the database's sake?
Sincerley,
JB
