Hello:
(Sorry if posted twice, but my local news server seems
no to post messages)
I am working for a new series of lectures on
Distributed Programming (2nd Course) to begin on August
2000. My students have background on C programming (IPC,
Sockets and RPC). As corequisite they will be working with
multithreading (some Ada95 Multitasking and Objects;
Pthreads and Java). I plan to cover the theoretical basis,
and a series of 2 or 3 3-hour lectures with overhead code
samples on PVM, MPI, CORBA (Mico), Java RMI and GLADE.
I need pointers to some tutorial on GLADE or on the DS
Annex (for dummies) in order to get the essential of the Ada
way of getting distributed and some follow-on for the
students to choose Ada as an assignment. My working platform
is OS/2, Students have (I guess) some sort of Win and
assignments are required in Linux (SuSE). When is possible,
I port part of the assignments to show interoperability
(success with OS/2, no IPC; a frustrating but usefull
experience to Win).
Suggestions, comments , side material (free Ada ports of
IDL, or interfaces), links, sites, books and sharing of
experience are welcome.
   Thank you for your time
