WORKSHOP THEME: In Transition to Integrated Environments

WORKSHOP DATES: September 15 - 19, 1986
Each panel will study and examine issues listed as objec-
tives below, and will produce a final report on the deli-
berations of their subject area. The final report describes
the issues and resolutions of the panel, and is also used to
provide specific recommendations and action items.

1. Software Environments to Increase Productivity
- Methods, practices, and techniques to increase produc-
tivity
- Systems approaches, workstations, distributed architec-
tures
- Toolsets for productivity
- Interoperability
2. Software Environments to Increase Quality
- Integrating Quality and Development organizations
- Integrating aspects of S/W Quality with tools and
methods
- Certifying Quality toolsets under DoD-STD-2167 and
DoD-STD-2168
- Implementing an SQEP with respect to DoD-STD-2167 and
DoD-STD-2168
3. AI Applications in MCCR
- AI under DoD-STD-2167 and DoD-STD-2168
- AI lifecycle for MCCR
4. Management Perspectives of Ada & Its
Environments/Applications
- Experiences with Ada and its methodologies
- Standards evolution
- Ada use under DoD-STD-2167, Revision A
- Cost Benefits of Ada and its environments
- (possible topic: Ada and software data rights)
5. Integrated CAD/CAM Environments for DoD
- Navy Workstation Specification
- Compatibility with other interface standards and
specifications
- Impact of a DoD ``buy'' on commercial industry
6. Next Generation Architectures for the DoD
- Industry participation: pre-actionary or re-actionary
- Security and TCB architectural requirements
- The extent of NDI
- RISC, AI, and HOL needs
- Review of Computer Systems Interfaces Working Group
