In the Feb. 86 issue of Byte, there is an ad for the Artek Ada compiler for
the IBM PC (or compatible) computer that runs under MS-DOS and 384K RAM.
The ad also stated that the compiler implements all major features of
Ada except tasking (isn't this a violation of Ada's copywrite?). It costs
$895.

	for info:
		1-800-PC-ARTEK (in New Jersey 201-867-2900)

		Artek Corporation
		100 Seaview Dr.
		Secaucus, NJ 07094

Another venor is General Transformation Corporation which has an Ada compiler
for the PC XT and AT. The language is supposed to be in validation REAL SOON,
and costs $1000 for the XT and $1200 for the AT.

	for info:
		General Transformation Corporation
		P.O. Box 10083
		Berkeley, CA 94709-5083

		(415) 644-0702

Yet another vendor is General Systems Corporation which sells a (subset?)
Ada compiler on a card for the PC, XT, and AT. I believe they use the
Irvine Compiler Corporation compiler for this. Its price: $2695.

	for info:
		General Systems Corporation
		P.O. Box 250
		Ansonia, Connecticut 06401

		(203) 776-8990

(Oh yeah, there's Janus Ada for 99.00 but it doesn't really count.)

As for the Macintosh, the only compiler I know of was one mentioned in
the first issue of _Wheels for the Mind_ (the Apple University
Consortium newsletter). It mentioned that Sedgewick (sp?) or somebody and
Brown University were working on a port of an existing compiler. Anyone
else know anything on this?

(I have no connection with any of these companies. I'm just waiting for
the day that quality Ada compilers are available on Macintoshes for
the same price as Turbo Pascal.)

Are there any ADA compilers for IBM PC's or Macintosh?
