Yes, well of course they are, the ia32 architecture is alive
and well (note also that the Itanium includes an ia32 core)

Even more interesting is AMD's plans which include making
a 64-bit version of the ia32 architecture (you can't call
it ia64, since that is coopted by Intel for the Itanium which
is an architecture that bears no relation to the ia32).
