I am *extremely* interested in such a project. In fact I even mentioned
it to the ELKS group about a year and a half ago, drawing a lot of
flames for my trouble and not much else.
However, in the followups to this original post, there was no mention of
any such existing project nor of actually *doing* anything!

If you are interested in *working* on such a project (either in coding,
managing, contributing to overall design, doing research for/in existing
documentation, writing docs, etc) please send me email (not posts to
this thread). I will collect the names and addresses and periodically
send the entire list to those that are on it (only). Updates about a
week after a name is received that is not already on the list seems
about right.
I might even be able to start a mailing list (or a WWW forum, or both)
for the members of such a project.
