The best way to minimize effort in computing square roots
is to use a library routine written by someone who knows
how to write things efficiently.
The example here is
(a) subject to doing too many operations per iteration
(b) takes more time that necessary per iteration, due to
the very inefficient termination test
(c) is not fully last bit accurate
Sqrt is an easy routine to write, and any library routine
will undoubtedly do the right things with respect to the
above three points!
