Reminder: If you are interested in working on better Ada support for
Linux, preparing easy to install consistent RPM/Debian/etc. packages,
Linux specific libraries, etc., then please join the
gnatlist@seas.gwu.edu
mailing list. Information on how to subscribe is on
http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/linux-ada/
The mailing list will be helpful in coordinating the various GNAT
packaging efforts, to ensure that the various Debian and Red Hat
packages all have a uniform and portable content. We should be
particularly concerned that GNAT-produced binaries using shared
libraries stay strictly portable across distributions, which will
require some careful coordination. I hope that the scripts to build the
Red Hat and Debian packages can be unified into a single common script,
such that we have to maintain only one single "GNAT for Linux" package
concept for all distributions, otherwise we might create a portability
and support nightmare.
I will keep the above web page up-to-date with any new information
regarding availability of Linux-specific Ada software and ongoing
projects.
Markus
