            OOPSLA MIDYEAR WORKSHOPS ANNOUNCEMENT
                    DEADLINE EXTENDED
        "http://www.acm.org/sigplan/oopsla/oopsla98/midyear/"

On July 19-21, OOPSLA is sponsoring the second annual Midyear Conference
consisting of three day workshops in Denver devoted to Applied Object
Technology. These workshops will bring together practitioners to share
experiences and issues in the implementation of real world object systems.
The workshops and contacts are:

Finance Industry - Dheeraj Kulshrestha (dkulshrestha@checkfree.com)
Telecommunications -Bob Wise (rmwise@vsys.com)
Manufacturing -Terry Lammers (terence.l.lammers@boeing.com)
Insurance/Health -Mamdouh Ibrahim (mamdouh.ibrahim@eds.com)
Java Frameworks -Darren Govoni (dgovoni@fgm.com)
Transition to OO Technology -Tim Korson (korson@comsoft.org)
OO Training/Education -Mary Lynn Manns(manns@bulldog.unca.edu)
Implementing Life Cycle Process and Product Models -Jon E. Thrane(jet@dnv.com)

The goal is to lay the foundation for future expanded meetings at OOPSLA
and other vertical application specific conferences. Detailed information
for the Midyear Workshops is available at links from the OOPSLA98 home
page at "http://www.acm.org/sigplan/oopsla/" or the Midyear Workshops page
at "http://www.acm.org/sigplan/oopsla/oopsla98/midyear/".

This should be an extremely valuable conference for participants because
of the focus on real world applications and problems. The three day format
will encourage detailed discussions and interactions. The proceedings of
the Workshops will be made available on the Web and should provide a
useful resource to the object community. Feel free to contact me or the
Workshop organizers for more details. To ensure a knowledgeable group for
effective interaction, workshop attendance is managed by the organizers.
Prospective attendees usually submit a short position paper outlining
their experience and opinions on an aspect of the workshop topic.

Deadline for submissions was April 27 but is being extended. Please
contact workshop organizers if you need extra time. Notification of
acceptance by May 15.
